New Source of Energy Using Nanotechnology
Posted on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 @ 12:43:27 UTC by rob

Science Countries across the world continue to search for new ways to create energy. As our current means for energy continue to deplete, thus making them more expensive to generate, governments are searching for new energy resources. Researchers at the University of Missouri-Columbia have developed a more efficient source of energy involving nano-scale particles that take only microseconds to create and can be developed on a surface as small as a microchip.

RESEARCHERS DEVELOP TECHNIQUE TO USE DIRTY SILICON, COULD PAVE WAY FOR CHEAPER SOLAR ENERGY, August 16
A research team led by engineers at the University of California, Berkeley, has developed a new technique to handle metal defects in low-grade silicon, an advance that could dramatically reduce the cost of solar cells.

Just curious...

In the article, it says the "enegetic material consists of fuel and oxidizer", I am wondering if this "fuel" is still the fossil fuel sort of stuff?

If that is the case, this technology only delays the inevitable, nothing more, nothing less.

Nonetheless, the idea of increasing the energy efficiency may keep mankind afloat for another while...
