Negative resistance in amorphous semiconductors
Posted on Monday, December 26, 2005 @ 13:50:50 UTC by vlad

Science TUNNELLING ELECTRONS SPEED UP LARGE AREA CARBON ELECTRONICS, December 26

Researchers at the Advanced Technology Institute at the University of Surrey have reported in the January 2006 issue of Nature Materials the first demonstration of negative resistance in amorphous semiconductors.

ULTRACOLD TEST PRODUCES LONG-SOUGHT QUANTUM MIX, December 22
Unbalanced superfluid could be akin to exotic matter found in quark star

In the bizarre and rule-bound world of quantum physics, every tiny spec of matter has something called "spin" - an intrinsic trait like eye color - that cannot be changed and which dictates, very specifically, what other bits of matter the spec can share quantum space with. When fermions, the most antisocial type of quantum particle, do get together, they pair up in a wondrous dance that enables such things as superconductivity.

Is the field of Carbon semiconductors actually real? Would anyone find it worth Investing in, because it sounds too far out to be believed - just like science fiction?

The article mentions Diamond Like Carbon electronics, and it sure sounds like the scientists in the UK understand what it means - but negative resistance in carbon electronics? Negative resistance might actually be useful in improving ENERGY EFFICIENCY in electronic devices? Does anyone here believe this story, or has anyone heard this before - because it sure sounds familiar to me?

TOTAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY for one, and the doorway to our future.
