Future Energy eNews - Aug 2010
Posted on Sunday, August 29, 2010 @ 20:41:50 GMT by vlad

General In this issue:

1) ERRA Plans Lightweight EV's with Nickel Hydrogen Batteries
2) The Charge of the Electric Brigade
3) Cool Roofs, Made of Metal
4) Green Light Given to Massive California Solar Plant
5) World's Largest Tidal Turbine Unveiled
6) COFE4 - SPESIF Final Call for Papers

Dear Subscriber,

We are happy to let all of the inventors, scholars, and scientists in our audience know of the extension of time until September 15 that the 2011 joint SPESIF conference has issued for the submission of abstracts. Submit abstracts to abstracts@ias-spes.org and mention "COFE4" if your presentation will be addressing our interests of energy, propulsion or bioenergetics! (See story #6 below)

This month two stories stand out from all of the rest. The first (#1 article) about Ergenics refrigeration using metal hydrides and hot water should raise some eyebrows so I have provided an Editor's Note to help explain it. The second (#4 article) is the nation's biggest solar project in decades, which of course lets California get ahead of the rest of the country in renewable energy usage!

We have to apologize for presenting the slanted story about the Chevy Volt, with its BMW price tag and 40 mile range. Therefore, to see the four other competing models which have lower price and longer range, here is the "Next" link for the series of amazing electric cars from other manufacturers: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2003892_2003887_2003872,00.html

Best wishes,
