Would you invest in an O/U device just because you read about it here?

I’m going to end this poll now even though not very many people participated. I did not expect this result and, I must admit, it worries me to see people ready to invest in an O/U device just because they read about it here...
Again, this is a NEWS site on a controversial topic: “Over Unity Energetics”. Nobody should take any NEWS sites (or newspapers, TV, radio etc. for that matter) as a direct investment advice. At best, this should be the starting point for a THOROUGH RESEARCH into your “investment target”.
Yes, we support much more investment into new revolutionary energy technologies research but definitely not direct from individuals reading about this topic on the Internet! We think that us, the tax paying public, should demand the government, through its specialized institutions, to allocate (invest) more of OUR money to support people and organizations involved in this vitally important field of research. They should actively investigate any claims of breakthroughs, no matter how fantastic or impossible they seem to be to the present scientific knowledge and report the findings to us. We think the funds to properly do that are trivial in comparison to the military budgets and even to those spent with hot fusion research, for example.
Consequently, this time I must agree with “chipotle_pickle” when he wrote:
“A general warning is in order. This site is for advocacy, discussion, and education. This site is NOT here to provide investment advice. One might think, ”Well, it was discussed on ZPEnergy.com, and the consensus was X (the truth, a hoax, a scam), so it must be X.” but that thinking should only be taken so far. Not far enough to make an investment decision. Generally, everyone here wishes you well, hopes you make good investments, and don't get scammed; but nobody here takes any responsibility for any serious decisions made on the basis of their comments here.”

I must have pushed the NO button in that survey at l east 20 times ;-) I couldn't believe people would actually vote YES!
And...yes...I'm going to agree with Mr. Chipotle too. He makes a good point that we all need to take to heart. You know, I really think we need folks like Mr. Chipotle around sometimes to keep us all on the straight and narrow path.
So, here's to honest cooperation! Woohoo! Now, let's have a virtual group hug, sing a few rounds of Kumbaya, and get back to work!

It's easier to complain than to advise (Score: 1) by chipotle_pickle on Thursday, May 29, 2003 @ 01:43:13 UTC (User Info | Send a Message) http://freehydrogen.blogspot.com | This site out on the edge, both in the topic it covers, but, more importantly, in how it covers stories. Still, maybe established media who have faced similar problems before have developed guidlines that we can learn from.
Something that's standard in business journalism is that there is a quiet period immediately before a business goes public. The idea is that before a company goes public, business stories can't lead a person astray. After it goes public, there are all kinds of filings that are audited and should give investors some ground truth for evaluating a company. (Yeah, I know.) But right before it goes public, the filings aren't as good, and any stories in the press could hype a stock before an IPO in a way that reflects badly on everyone later. (Yeah, I know.)
There is some wisdom in this practice, and the guidline I would reccomend is that you not post articles about companies that are not publicly traded, but who are looking for investors. If you avoid this one group, you can do (almost) no harm. Maybe someone would buy a book they weren't happy with. Pfht. You can learn something even from bad books. And if you post an article about a breakthrough at (wolog) GM, you wont be the only one to do it. But to post articles about GWE or Evolved Technology, knowing full well that they are actively seeking investors, is reckless.
I notice GWE is still on the hot links.
