Cold Fusion 101 at MIT ... and more

Science From Dr. Peter Gluck's Ego Out Blog: INFO AND STARTING THE +LENR+ BABEL COLLECTION

1) A traditional Cold Fusion teaching event

Tomorrow it starts, a very important, very LENR traditional event: Cold Fusion 101 at MIT for 2015: Introduction to excess power in Fleischmann-Pons experiments. A very rich, interesting program presenting the process that gave us the certainty of existence of cold fusion-excess heat:

"The Cold Fusion 101: Introduction to Excess Power in Fleischmann-Pons Experiments course will run again on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) over the IAP winter break Tuesday through Friday Jan. 20-23, 2015.  Professor Peter Hagelstein of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, and Dr. Mitchell Swartz of JET Energy, Inc., will present the course with topics such as:

Excess power production in the Fleischmann-Pons experiment; lack of confirmation in early negative experiments; theoretical problems and Huizenga’s three miracles; physical chemistry of PdD; electrochemistry of PdD; loading requirements on excess power production; the nuclear ash problem and He-4 observations; approaches to theory; screening in PdD; PdD as an energetic particle detector; constraints on the alpha energy from experiment; overview of theoretical approaches; coherent energy exchange between mismatched quantum systems; coherent x-rays in the Karabut experiment and interpretation; excess power in the NiH system; Piantelli experiment; prospects for a new small scale clean nuclear energy technology."

Only the technology purists could nit-pick saying the last 10 words are not as true and valuable as the rest.

2) Toward a technological future of LENR

How a technology develops: ...

Also from Peter's blog: Only smart questions can generate good answers

Infinite Energy Magazine created by Gene Mallove is not a strictly poor reviewed scientific journal. There are not many experts in the unknown and those who think the known has to be applied for judging and everything make many destructive errors therefore peer review has a limited validity for the new ideas in LENR. Some of the best, most important, impactful, high level Cf/LENR paper were published in Infinite Energy and a new bright example is in the recently launched issue 113- it is " Questions About Lattice Enabled Nuclear Reactions: Experiments, Theories and Computations"  by David J. Nagel ...

Here is a comment by Edmund Storms: Peter, Dave provides a conventional description of the problem of reproducing LENR, but he does not empathize the main problem. The main problem relates to  the properties of a material, not to the conditions being applied.  The behavior of material is always difficult to control and requires a great deal of effort to identify the variables and learn  how they affect the behavior.  This effort has not been applied to LENR, except on a few occasions.

For example, the hydrogen content is important in determining the fusion rate, but not a requirement for initiating the effect. Learning which variables are important to achieving a high hydrogen content has occupied several studies, which Dave notes. However, he ignores the role of the excess volume, which I showed was important.  He ignores my paper in which I describe how the F-P effect can be made more reproducible. He ignores, the unique condition that must be created in the material.  I have to wonder what is the point of providing such information if it is routinely ignored?

So far, the unique condition required for the fusion reaction to occur is created by pure random chance as result of how the material was treated in the past and during the experiment. Unless the true nature of the unique condition is identified, I see no hope in finding and controlling the conditions that affect formation of this condition, which I call the NAE.  If a person wants to reproduce LENR, they need to search the material for where the nuclear reaction occurs and identify the unique condition that is present at this location.  I gave done this and propose this condition is cracks of a critical dimension.  I find very little interest in this idea by people in the field who have the required tools to explore this possibility in any serious way.  Once again, I see very little reason to continue to provide such insights.

I know you feel the same way about how the leaders of the field ignore important information and insights you have.  Perhaps you have more patience than I do.  In my case, if this situation does not change soon, I will find other hobby.

Ed. S.
