(hosted by: Hank Green): Deep in a Sardinian mine, researchers are
constructing an experiment that hopes to solve what's known as The Worst
Prediction In The History of Physics, and pin down the true identity of
dark energy... by weighting the Nothing (the Vacuum). To do that, they
plan to use The Casimir Effect.
Hank states:
"...Demonstrating Casimir effect helped to prove the existence of vacuum
energy back in 1997, but how can it help us weigh the vacuum? ...
Inside the vacuum chamber, the team will hang two disks, each made from a
different material, on either side of a balance beam. Then, they’ll
swap between warming the disks up and cooling them down by a few degrees
Celsius.
Because they’re not made of the same stuff, the disks won’t respond the
same way. Only one will switch between being an electrical insulator and
a conductor.
And while that disk is a conductor, the Casimir
Effect should activate inside it. That means there should be fewer
virtual particles on that side of the balance beam, and it should tilt
upwards by a tiny amount.
As the disk switches between
conductor and insulator, and the Casimir Effect turns on and off, the
beam should seesaw back and forth. And That periodic movement is what
the Archimedes team will be looking for..."
All was fine until I found (thx to Axil Axil from ECW) another very interesting and popular YouTube channel,
Gareth Samuel's See the Pattern.
It has the following ABOUT statement: "Science is often taught as if it

states: "The Casimir effect is widely viewed as a force that originates
from what is called vacuum energy. It is often invoked as decisive
evidence that the zero point energy of the quantum field is real but
there is an alternative way of examining the force which could be
considered far more fundamental."

writes (ECW comment): Nikolic proved from first principles of quantum
electrodynamics that the Casimir force does not originate from the
vacuum energy of the electromagnetic field, and explained in simple
terms why the fundamental microscopic origin of Casimir force lies in
van der Waals forces...

project engineer Paul Czysz explained that zero point energy is all the
energy below 'sea level' and our reality is floating on the surface.
This energy creates the background for the Universe to exist.
He
also says that cold fusion is just a zero point energy tap. Free energy
devices in any form couple with the zero point energy and extract it.
Zero point energy is the ultimate green source of energy.
