I am familiar with Howard Johnson and his model. However, you don't need to configure the magnets like he did. Here is what I did.
Think of a donut shaped object about three feet in diameter with the center hole about two feet in diameter. Ok, now this donut is made up of bar magnets all in a spiral formation. The bar magnets are placed on this donut at an angle so that all the positive ends point inwards but at a very slanted angle and curved all the way around the donut shape so you have a magnet covered three dimensional donut. Now this serves as the stator magnets. Now the armature magnets are on a bearing connected to a shaft that is fixed to the center of the donut where there is just air. These armature magnets are glued to a piece of plastic that is shaped like an hour glass that extends over the donut but the armature magnets are straight and are configured opposite one another so magnet 1 is positive pointing inward and the next one beside it negative pinpointing inwards and so on. This armature is three feet in diameter and is placed just over the stator magnets by 1 cm. It spins so fast that I can't even see the armature magnets! Also the air around the donut looks pink! I know that this sounds weird but it looks pink when the hour glass magnets are spinning and it smells like rain! Only no rain. Weird!
I think what makes it turn is the angled stator magnets spiraling positive ends all pointing inwards while curved which is in strong contrast to the straight magnets in an hourglass configuration with every other magnet positive and negative. The spiraling configuration directs the spinning hourglass shape of the armature magnets to go in a dedicated direction.
It really works and is the most exciting day of my life! I have something here. If I'm not careful when I go to stop it if I touch it with my bare hands I got shocked so bad it felt like a jolt from a capacitor! Now I use a brake pad to stop it.

Hello, Mikell:
I'm a fellow over-unity enthusiast. This is in regard to your message on Sterling Allan's Greater Things web-site:
http://freeenergy.greaterthings.com/Directory/Howard_Johnson_Motor/Mikell/
Many of us in the New Energy "community" find that scientists, engineers, and skeptical members of the public would probably accept longevity of continued operation under load as sufficient evidence that an O/U device such as a magnetic motor, probably works as claimed. In that case, it would operate beyond the known capacity of modern batteries, including the touted Lithium-ion Polymer type, fuel cells, or any other energy source, so that the counter-claim that there was a hidden input source, could not be made.
Now that you have a working magnetic motor, you may be aware that science and technology skeptics have claimed that, to date, running magnetic motors have eventually slowed down to a stop.
With due regard to bearing wear, the consequent danger of shorting due to rotor/stator contact - like a failing IC engine alternator - , and possible damage due to over-heating, have you run the motor for an extraordinary time period, say, for six months or more, with some sort of demanding load such as a weighted spinning disc, or frictional resistance, all without any external input from the grid, a battery, fuel cell, or other energy source?
With thanks,
Hal Ade Ottawa, ON.

Did the poster have a website or is there any way to contact him for photos or drawings? |

I just e-mailed him asking if he had any pictures/plans he'd be willing to share. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
But anyways- Pink air and the smell of rain is definitely wierd! If he got shocked, I'd be interested in knowing what actually caused the shock...Because it sounds like he just has a bunch of magnets spinning around....

Re: Another Working All Magnetic Motor !? (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Friday, September 26, 2003 @ 08:21:15 UTC | Ok after following all the leads it appears this "Mikell" has not made any followups for over a month, and some posters on his thread make mention of a prankster who might be at it again under a new alias. looks like another dead-end =
BUT if this were real and the author has a good reason not to be posting anymore, I would assume that the "pink aura" was caused by the magnet composition. The most common ceramic magnets I'm familiar with are Barium Ferrite or Strontium Ferrite. Strontium is used to make red/pink fire in pyrotechnic compositions, while Barium is used to make green fire. Would the aura be green if he were using Barium Ferrite magnets?
I sent him an email as well, not expecting a reply though... |

Subject: New permanent magnet motor filmed !
Hi All,
I called a few days ago Carl Jachulke, carl.jachulke@rafoeg.de who runs www.rafoeg.de and he told me, that he and his friend have filmed a German inventor´s permanent magnet motor ! He said to me, that it really works and accellerates and spins around 10 rev/sec.
He said that it is very easy to build. It is just 1 permanent magnet, and 2 copper aircore coils !
He explained it to me on the phone and I did draw now an schematics how it is supposed to work. There is one rotor coil with around 1000 windings inside the rotor wheel. This coil has about 0,2 mm in diameter copper wire. The connections of the coil go to a commutator that is located on the axis shaft and from thereon to a second coil, the stator coil, just sitting in front of the permanent magnet.
Now when the rotor is pushed manually to give it a spin, at the right angle the 1st coil´s output voltage is connected via the commutator to the 2nd coil and it seems there is the right polarity of the 2 coils then to accelerate the rotor. Carl said to me, that it is really amazing to see, how the rotor is accelerating and going higher and higher in RPM. They also connected some mechanical load onto the rotor shaft and it keeps on spinning. He says the output is around 380 milliWatts mecahnically for this little toy motor ! No hidden batteries, all build just from plexiglas, so you could see it all. Carl and his friend have already filmed it all on DV tape and he is currently in talk with the inventor. The inventor wishes to stay anonymous in this moment. He also has a 2 KWatts output unit with just 60 Watts required to power it. He has some investors and they wish to stay anonymous too in this moment.
Anyway, I just uploaded my drawing over here so you all can have a look at it. Normally Lenz law will prohibit this, but maybe, if the polarisation of the coils is right and the right timing is done, I could imagine, that it works. See for yourself here:
