World oil and gas 'running out'

Thursday, October 2, 2003 Posted: 1245 GMT ( 8:45 PM HKT)

LONDON, England -- Global warming will never bring a "doomsday scenario" a team of scientists says -- because oil and gas are running out much faster than thought.

The world's oil reserves are up to 80 percent less than predicted, a team from Sweden's University of Uppsala says. Production levels will peak in about 10 years' time, they say...

This is the wake up call for the American Lifestyle. It turns out that all those Middle East countries took a clue from Enron and overstated their oil reserves. The doomsday scenario won't be from global warming, it will be from economic collapse brought about by sky high fuel prices. All the people that bought Hummers will probably be living in them by decades end. The rest of us will be undergoing what the experts refer to as "dramatic lifestyle changes". Ahh the good old days, looks like they're coming back. Families living together close to their source of income, public transportation, no more traffic jams. Maybe not such a doomsday scenario after all!

See the interview on FromtheWilderness.com with Matthew Simmons, CEO of Simmons International, the largest Investment Bank dealing with oil and gas. The entire interview has been reprinted with permission and archived by EV News.

Simmons believes natural gas supplies will "run off a cliff within two years". He also states that world oil supplies probably peaked in the year 2000.

If he is right, there is a truly urgent need for a revolutionary energy source that can power vehicles and be used for distributed generation.

Keep an eye on ZPE. There may even be some pleasant surprises within a year or so.
