Example of suppression
Posted on Thursday, October 30, 2003 @ 14:27:10 UTC by rob

General Watching the "Conspiracy Theories" show on Discovery Channel on 10/30/2003 was interesting because it had a piece on Cold Fusion.

But boy was I dead wrong in which way I thought it would be interesting...

The whole outcome of the piece was that Cold Fusion was a fraud. It simply doesn't work. The piece touched somewhat on the subject that those who were most critical had a deep affiliation with the Tokamak, and thus most eager to see Cold Fusion fail.

But hey, it's "Conspiracy Theories" right ? They can't all be that evil, can they ??

There are probably hundreds (thousands?) of scientists conducting successful replications of "Cold Fusion" and Cold Fusion conference goers that would heartily disagree with the "common knowledge" that Cold Fusion is dead.

See? This is a classic example of where an influentous media channel is governed (perhaps not knowingly) by the Scientific Community and thus effecting a kind of suppression.

Do you subscribe to Discovery Channel ??

Stop it.

I was watching Rug Rats with my kids when they talked about a toy that was powered by a "cold fusion" system from Italy. I thought WOW is this a "soft" inftroduction for kids, like the UFO stuff that is all over the school and tv systems today? Any thoughts on how and why cold fusion gets put on a trashy kid show?

The name is erroneous, its not fusion, and its not cold. There are two facts that tell us its not fusion, first, the experimenter(s) survive to tell the tale. A fusion reaction involving deuterium would produce neutrons in sufficient quantity to kill just about anyone in the vicinity. No matter how softly two deuterons fuse, a neutron with 14mev of energy comes blasting out from the reaction. This energy is enough to pass through the armor of a tank and kill the occupants inside (remember the neutron bomb? same principle).
The second fact that should tell us its not fusion is that it works with plain old hydrogen. So whatever is happening, if anything is happening at all, is the "production of anomalous energy by an unknown mechanism". Doesn't sound bite as well as "cold fusion". Maybe we can invent a new word "POAEBAUM" to rename the process.
