The article actually states that the reformer has been improved to output hydrogen in 12 seconds from start, and the unit is around a cubic foot in size. It sounds quite feasible to me by the time I have put on my seat-belt, looked around and am ready to drive away. Oh, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory are also claiming twice the efficiency of the gas internal combustion engine. Thus it would not be unreasonable to expect a similar reduction in CO2 emissions, not to mention other much more toxic hydrocarbon combusted by-products. Whilst most of us would like to see emission free Zero Point Energy driven cars (not to mention no fuel bills), I couldn't see the Detroit Makers falling over themselves even if the technology "fell" in their laps. For the time being, perhaps we should be grateful for anything (like Gas/Electric Hybrids) that does make it commercially to reduce the poisoning of our planet. | Parent
