Water vapor has the opposite effect, it reflects infrared and should keep the earth cooler, but apparently from the data this does not appear to be happening. It was thought that the water vapor that was released into the atmosphere if the earth warmed would counteract the other effects. The 1908 Tsunga meteorite effect is inconclusive, we should remember that the turn of the 20th Century was also the beginning of the modern age of coal and oil burning to generate electricity, space heating and transportation.   The human race is performing a vast uncontrolled experiment of the atmosphere, and the results, when they come in will be unavoidable and unstoppable. Its my own opinion that anything the human race can do now to stop it are fruitless. It might be time to seriously start looking at : 1. Moving off planet into synthetically created environments 2. Going underground 3. Hardened above ground shelters to protect us, giant Buckyspheres to keep out destructive and choatic weather that our activities will cause. Answer to the last question, yes its politics! Just like the politics of the tobacco industry that continues to insist that smoking doesn't cause cancer or respiratory disease. The same kind of politics that promotes intelligent design and Creationism. Freedom gives you the right to promote absurdities but not avoid the results of ones' folly. Yes go ahead and believe it but keep in mind that there are consequences to bad judgement.
