Re: The Reality of MPI and Ultraconductor Technologies (Score: 1)

Room Temperature Superconductors Inc. has produced hundreds of samples of Ultraconductors since the work with these remarkable polymers was acquired in late 1992 by MPI. They were discovered by a Moscow polymer physicist about a decade earlier and a Russian team did basic research on these materials. They came to our attention shortly after the Cold War ended. Although four Small Business Innovation Research contracts, including a highly competitive Phase II award, were completed for the Air Force and what is now called the MDA, wire has not yet been achieved except in extremely short lengths. Until earlier this year, it seemed that achieving a meter length of wire would be an $18 million, three year project. It now appears it might be accomplshed with a breakthrough technique in less than a year and at much more modest cost.

Superconductors were discovered in 1911. Yet, for 40 years nobody found a way to make them into magnets. Today, the most powerful magnets are made with superconducting wire. Progress with new materials that have extremely high conductivity has always been slow and expensive. The ceramic, so-called High Temperature Superconductors, were discovered in 1985 but have only been produced as wire during recent years. These wires must be cryogenically cooled and sales are usually heavily subsidized.

Wire, and later cables, made of Ultraconductors are now on the commercial horizon.

MPI has been evaluating claims by inventors that they have made magnetic generators since the firm was founded in 1984. Most were found to have resulted from incorrect measuring technigues and a few were fraudulant.

Less than five years ago we began to see magnetic technology that had the potential to become practical. Our far-flung team, which includes a "retired" EE in the UK and a former Adjunct Professor of Physics in South America, has produced a substantial body of work and numerous prototypes. It is now clear that commercial self-sustaining motors as well as generators of both the solid-state and rotary variety, will emerge into the market within the next year.

Visitors to our laboratories, under NDA, have witnessed several examples of Over Unity devices. Later this year we plan a public presentation of our technology. It will also appear on the internet. Next year, licensees and joint venture partners are expected to produce and market our products.
