Incomplete patents provide no protection (in USA at least). On the ROSE issue, it's not quite fair to say that the paper was published without them knowing. The paper was first sent in 1999 as a rejection letter. (But I can't say if the ROSE editors sent them a copy in 2001.) I don't expect anyone to follow Harwood's uninformed diagnosis of Bearden's psyche. But the letter from Crowell stating that he had specifically asked not to be listed as an author is authentic. There is no reason to believe that Crowell is now lying. At one point he says he couldn't answer a letter because he came down with 'severe mental depression'. Difficult to believe a piss-ant scientific debate that the mainstream press isn't even aware of could drive a man to profound despair. And why should he go to the courts to defend himself against childish verbal abuse any other scientist would ignore? How many times has Bob Park made fun of Hal Puthoff? Puthoff ignores him, and focuses on his research;he disproves his critics with experimental evidence and academic papers published in respectable journals. Evans instead wants to silence his critics by suing them for childish insults published mostly in obscure newsgroups. So his papers will have a better chance of spreading around the world as proven truth. But only in the fringe. By behaving like a spin doctor with a knack for legal threats, he has made himself a pariah to the mainstream scientific establishment. In other words, he may win at court. But he will never get into the pages of New Scientist, let alone go into serious, big time business making things that will change the world.
