The complex system of energy flows in the United States in 2005. More than half of energy produced is wasted. Flow chart prepared by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, University of California, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The energy flow charts show the relative size of primary energy sources and end uses in the United States, with fuels compared on a common energy unit basis.
