Eric Davis indicated there is hope for generating large amounts of negative energy. A parabolic cylindrical mirrors can generate negative energy on the focal line by focusing vacuum fluctuations. This was work by Larry Ford at Tufts University. This could generation -10^30 joules per cubic meter energy density.
