LENR Explanations - Intermittent, Haphazard Deuterium Ion Linear Alignment?

This is not an article.  It is mainly "Letter to the Editor" regarding the explanations for LENR.

At the SPESIF 2012 that was then sponsored by Thomas Vallone's Integrity Research Institute, I made two presentations.  The first was based on my proposed solute ion linear alignment (SILA) based on my prior paper ASME ES2010-90396 "Solute Ion Coulomb Force Monopole Motor and Solute Ion Linear Alignment Propulsion" and the second was for a new paper that was published by Elsevier as part of the Conference Proceedings "Dielectric Analysis for Torque of Solute Ion Coulomb Force Monopole Motor" which is available online. 




In the first presentation, I explained SILA starting off with the force between two Na+ ions or between two Cl- ions separated by a distance r = 10E-9 m, then F= k q1q2/er^2 which turns out to be about 10E-12 Newtons if the dielectric constant of water e is assumed to be 81 for convenience.  If the electrode surface is 1 meter long x 1 cm wide, then there are 10E+9 ions/meter lengthwise and 10E+7 ions widthwise, so the force at the open end of the electrode assembly is 10E-3 Newtons (10E-12 x 10E+9).  Solving for the velocity of the ions at the open end using Stokes Law F=6pi eta r V where r is 1/2 x 10E-9 m, then V = 10E+8 m/s IN WATER, INCLUDING THE VISCOSITY ETA.

The propulsion force F=rho A V^2 is calculated as 1000 kg/m^3 x 10E-2m x 10E-9 m x 10E+16 m^2/sec^2 = 10E+E8 NEWTONS!!  This far exceeds the velocities required to overcome the Coulomb barrier between deuterium ions without postulating a reduction in that barrier.

I proposed in the first presentation that LENR might be caused by intermittent, haphazard linear alignment of deuterium ions in the heavy water on the surface of the palladium electrodes that were used in the Fleischmann and Pons experiment.  I also proposed that it could be far easier to achieve nuclear fusion by intersecting SILA ions beams of deuterium in heavy water since the deuterium atoms in the heavy water are electrically neutral and also the densities would be enormously greater than in plasma fusion.  Also, it might be even better to try intersecting four ordinary hydrogen ions, i.e., protons, in light water to see if fusion could be achieved that way without the necessity of separating deuterium and heavy water and the problems involved with that.
