From AEI - NEW ENERGY REPORT #104: The Energy Policy Act of 2003," sponsored by Republican Sen. Pete Domenici of New Mexico, points in the wrong direction. At a time when America needs safe, clean, affordable energy, this bill is harmful to consumers and the environment. This is a regressive bill that, among other things, reduces public utility protection for consumers; leaves taxpayers responsible for up to half the construction costs of new nuclear reactors; provides $10 billion in subsidies for the already lucrative oil and natural gas industries; and encourages reckless mining and hazardous disposal of millions of gallons of underground water by the coal bed methane industry.

Public Citizen, a national, nonprofit, public interest organization, has prepared electronic letters and faxes to expedite your participation in our democracy. Take a minute and let your legislators know how you feel. Don't forget to remind them that you'll be in the voting booth come election time.
