His name was Qian Xuesen.
Five
years earlier, he'd had the highest security clearance in the country.
He'd contributed to the Manhattan project. He'd co-founded what would
become NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
And then McCarthyism happened, and none of that mattered anymore.
China
got, for free, one of the only people on the planet who could build
them a missile program from nothing. Within a decade, he had.
