Found on Slashdot.org (http://slashdot.org/), a group of scientists at the Institute of Physics Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering are generating electricity a new way - by forcing water through micron-sized channels in a glass block. The water behaves like a liquid-based battery, with positive ions on one side, and negative ions on the other side. The scientists were able to power a lightbulb with 10 volts and one milliamp.
