NASA - 50 years of exploration
Posted on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 @ 22:26:58 UTC by vlad

Testimonials NASA officially turns 50 on October 1, but the agency celebrated its golden anniversary with an early birthday party on Sept. 24, 2008, at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.

Legendary astronauts Neil Armstrong, John Glenn and Jim Lovell joined NASA Administrator Michael Griffin and other dignitaries in the gala, celebrating the power of innovation and discovery, and recognizing the agency's challenges and achievements over the past five decades.

(AP) -- The signs of a midlife crisis are there: A 50th birthday approaching; a longing for the glory days of youth; a hankering to dump the aging partner of 27 years; and a costly flirtation with a new young thing. This isn't some balding businessman in a sports car. It's NASA.

Along comes an 18 year old upstart with an even bigger car, more money than you ever had and intends to repeat everything you said you had done 30 years ago but this time with undeniable worldwide (live internet wide) exposed proof.

Now how does the 50 year old get back to his old haunts and plant evidence to prove he did it the first time ;-)

Actually this raises an interesting point:

What if China goes to the moon visits the Apollo 11 landing site and finds.....nothing? Well except some reflectors which any unmanned vehicle could have left, but no LEM legs? There should be 6 sets of LEM landing gear, 3(?) rovers and a shed load of dead weight equipment on the moon somewhere.

If the conspiracies are correct then I expect to see a frantic exercise by the US to get back to the moon before the Chinese or Indians or Japanese or Koreans. Mind you the US needs to fix it's bank account first!!!!!!
