Re: No operating charge. 3000/200 = 15. (Score: 0)

"No they are saying it costs $3000 and that operating costs are negligible."

They NEVER said "operation costs are negligible"

Operational Costs:

Once an Edison System is purchased, the only costs associated with the system's operation involves the cost of water the system uses as its source of fuel, and the cost of periodically replacing water filters.

Nothing in that part of the paragraph indicates the items consumed from operations are negligible... They do state , the only COSTS associated with the system's operation are water AND periodically replacing water filters. (thus they are the consumables)

Now we get the the part where they use the word negligible.

Since the cost of the water the Edison System uses is negligible, it is too small to consider as an operating expense.

Okay ... my READING 101 class is almost over...

In the 1st part of the paragraph GWE states:

The other OPERATING COSTS (after buying the device itself) include water and filters.

In the 2nd part of the paragraph GWE states:

Water cost is negligible.

From this we can conclude that the FILTER COST isn't negligible at all and instead makes up the lions share of the consumable operating costs.

Listen... I'm not sure what to believe wrt GWE but you're not doing yourself any favors just attacking everything that GWE says before you give yourself a chance to digest what the company says.

As for finance charges they are most often NOT included with items such as this...

Just like the following aren't included:

The cost per sqft the device takes up in your home or building.

The cost for a concrete pour to place the device on (if outside).

The cost of delivery.

The cost of making the connections to your home or office.

etc etc etc...

YES to calculate a TRUE total cost of ownership ALL of those must be included and if you wanna get totally technical you should also include the following...

- Cost of lost opportunity aka interest you would have made if you hadn't purchased the device in the first place.

- Apx cost increases you would have to pay your current utility providers as the years go by.

And I'm sure a whole bunch of other things...

Let's not pick nits shall we.... Go back to attacking GWE on the over all claim that device isn't possible. Attacking them on this specific issue is just making you look silly.
