Scientists believed that magnetic levitation could never happen. But then someone proved them wrong...
The writer of a Popular Science article on magnetic levitation points out that, at one time, scientists believed mag lev was impossible.
Earnshaw's Theorem proved it, they said.
But one inventor--who never heard of Earnshaw's Theorem--found an exception.
